Quiet retreat with good touches

helpful staffsuper clean roombeautiful groundslocal options
The staff were very helpful. They quickly addressed all our needs. Our room, a standard double room, was super clean and had high-standard fixtures. The hotel features beautiful grounds and gardens that are maintained well. The breakfast was great (especially the locally sourced options).
Parking felt a bit limited at peak times.
Location

The hotel is about a quarter of an hour walk along a footpath to Knightshayes, a national trust hotel. This makes it an ideal destination for those seeking outdoor activities near the hotel. The immediate surroundings provide a quiet atmosphere.

The restaurant's menu impressed me greatly , the food tasted delicious. I appreciated the variety of rooms available , including a lovely conservatory. It was really a pleasant surprise to find so many choices , the clean environment. I really appreciated the friendly staff .
My room felt uncomfortably hot , I think because it was near the pool area. I found the noise from the air conditioning units outside my window quite disruptive , it affected my sleep schedule. This noise switched off late and started again early , it was impossible to ignore.

Decent Stay with Minor Issues

pleasant gardenrelaxing waterfallcommunity spiritfluctuating temperaturerattling noiselimited channels
The hotel's garden and outside sitting area were pleasant. The little bridge and waterfall were relaxing. I also appreciated that the secondary car park on a school day is used for primary school drop-offs, demonstrating community spirit.
The shower temperature fluctuated constantly. The room was too hot because the radiators were on, and I couldn't use the fan as it rattled. I was also disappointed that the TV had about ten channels.
