amazing escape in the daintree!

pristine beach friendly staff
i loved that this place was right on the beach and in the rainforest! no tv actually helped me disconnect and enjoy the environment. the staff were friendly and i could watch dolphins before breakfast which was very nice.
I have to mention that the shower pressure was very low. It was hard to get a good wash as it basically dribbled out. there should be wifi available, especially since there isn't any phone reception.
Rooms
8/10
My family bungalow included comfortable beds and air conditioning for a cool space and a porch with chairs. It reminded me of summer camp but with nicer linens and working power outlets.
Dining
9/10
the on-site restaurant food was delicious and had a nicer ambiance than expected. the scrambled eggs included onions and herbs, and the wine list was excellent, great additions to my breakfast.
Facilities
9/10
i loved the pool at the hotel, the perfect place. luggage trolleys were available to transport all my belongings which was a bonus.
Service
10/10
janine at the reception was so helpful, she provided great instructions for arrival, and the kiwi staff member has worked there a long time so he knew all about the area.
Location
10/10
the hotel offered direct access to the beach and rainforest so i could walk right to the water, exploring the beautiful untouched area was a dream, i would come back any time.

fantastic person wonderful service forested pathway
the check-in person was fantastic, really helpful in getting me settled. jess in the restaurant provided wonderful customer service, always making sure i had everything i needed. strolling down the forested pathway to my room was always a highlight, especially after a long day.
I noted before arrival that wifi was unavailable, but i was not prepared for the complete lack of phone coverage. This made communication challenging
Rooms
8/10
The mackay cottage included necessary amenities like a mini-fridge and air conditioning and also had a nice seating area on the porch. The bed was comfortable enough, ensuring a restful night's sleep.
Facilities
9/10
The pool area included several sun loungers to relax and soak up the sun! the restaurant offered a diverse menu. It catered well to different tastes and dietary requirements. The bar had a selection of local beers.

Average stay. Some cleaning issues

dirty curtain old bedding
the rainforest location was nice and close to the beach.
The state of cleanliness was quite questionable. I found old bedding in the room. dust and mud were present under the bed. The bathroom curtain was dirty. Mold was also growing on the walls. the air conditioning unit was also pretty old and noisy.

the location was right at the end of the road. there were great walks nearby, and the restaurant served great dinners and breakfasts. the stars were amazing at night from the beach.
My family unit had two single beds besides the queen bed. We did not need those. there was NO indoor furniture except the beds. the unit was called a 'cottage', but it was a cabin attached to others

Rainforest Retreat Close to the Beach

beach proximity reasonable meal helpful staff
My Mackay Cottage was close to the beach. The onsite restaurant provided reasonably priced meals. Staff members were friendly and helpful.
The absence of phone coverage was a bit inconvenient. I also noticed there wasn't readily available information about this limitation upon arrival. The lack of Wi-Fi access added to the connectivity challenge.
Facilities
9/10
The pool area is maintained well. I observed convenient parking close to accommodations. Guests have access to trolleys for luggage transport, which helped a lot.
Service
9/10
The restaurant offers quality service with a helpful staff. I noticed they maintain an open-air dining hall. It allows guests to enjoy their meals while being immersed in the surrounding rainforest.
