excellent lodging experience
really good kindnessspacious accommodationsdelicious mealtraffic noise
the proprietors showed really good kindness. the annexe where i stayed featured spacious accommodations and added amenities. the meals were quite delicious and the barn itself was very beautiful. the cleanliness and order throughout the premises were noticeable.
the private terrace wasn't very useful (due to traffic noise). it's better to spend time in the backyard with a nice view of the hills.
Facilities
10/10
the hotel features a charming whisky bar with a great selection, and the large garden is ideal for walks. there's convenient parking available on site, a significant plus for those traveling by car. the grounds are well maintained.
Location

the surrounding area provides amazing scenery of the lake district (worth seeing!). i easily visited several local attractions. the hotel is near various walking routes, offering convenient access to nature.
Service
10/10
the staff gave useful recommendations for nearby dining spots and points of interest. breakfast service was efficient and prompt. emiko offered whisky tasting, demonstrating considerable knowledge about the drink and local area. all members of staff displayed a friendly and helpful attitude.
Dining
9/10
the breakfast was freshly prepared and included both continental and cooked options. i pre-ordered the evening meal, finding it cooked to perfection and tasty. homemade bread was a highlight (especially the crusty loaf!). the quality of the food was very high.
Emiko the host shared her personal knowledge of whisky (i really appreciated that). The scrambled eggs at breakfast were the best i have ever tasted. I found the stay peaceful with gorgeous views.
It was not completely clean. I saw many spiderwebs here and there. I also found the location next to a main road a little noisy.
