I loved the art above the bed. It matched the door sign. the staff really took care of me. they allowed an early check in due to heat warnings. staff went over a map of notable attractions in the area.
The ventilation was not ideal. The bathroom smell lingered a while. the sink had a slight clog. The water didn't drain properly.

good breakfastfresh fruitmidnight curfewrestrictive rule
The breakfast was good. A different main dish looked each day. Fresh fruit, yogurt, juice, milk and coffee were always available. I appreciated that SO much.
The hotel imposed certain rules that felt restrictive. There was a midnight curfew, and I had to return the key every time i left. This felt unnecessary.

I found locally sourced crafts integrated beautifully into the furniture, it was a really nice touch. the staff were super friendly and always ready to assist. the hotel's location was perfect. It was on a quiet japanese street, yet close to temples and the gion district.
the sink in the bathroom was a tad slow to drain, but it really didn't detract much from my stay.

Acceptable stay with some issues

major templesmidnight curfewsmall room
The hotel is near several major temples and shrines in the area.
The hotel's midnight curfew felt unnecessarily restrictive. I found it inconvenient to be locked out between 12 AM and 5 AM (especially on vacation). The room was also quite small.

the staff was very kind and helpful. the location was very convenient for exploring the area. the hotel was very clean and visually appealing. i especially liked the attention to aesthetic details throughout the building. we appreciated the quiet atmosphere and easy access to attractions.
i found the pillows provided to be too flat. i would have appreciated some more supportive options, but that was my only minor issue.

Mixed Feelings About My Stay

midnight curfewhard pillows
I was disappointed with some of the hotel's rules. The midnight curfew felt restrictive. I understand the need for security. Breakfast had limited hours, ending at 8:30 am, it felt too early. The pillows felt hard. I could not get comfortable.
