Really good Food and Service

fantastic foodgreat servicegood drinksconstant noise
The food was fantastic. The steak and ale pie was awesome. The teriyaki salmon also impressed me. The staff provided great service, and the drinks were good (Gary offered us a drive the next morning to resume our hike). It was a real treat.
All seemed good, but I had trouble sleeping. The loud, constant noise from the boiler room next door was quite noticeable. The bright green 'emergency exit' sign in the bedroom could not be turned off (it was difficult to ignore).

Mixed Experience at Historic Inn

disruptive noisebright light
The noise was quite disruptive during the night. I could distinctly hear the boiler operating next to my room. A bright green emergency exit sign also remained illuminated. This made it difficult to sleep. I found the response to my complaint the following morning dismissive. Paying a premium rate did not reconcile with the issues experienced.

The owners were friendly. The food was AMAZING!!! I walked to Hadrian's Wall Path easily. The inn is near the path, so hikers can get a delicious meal easily.
I noticed the shower cubicle looked somewhat old.
