a real gem near hadrian's wall
fantastic hostdrying roomensuite bathself-service drinks
The owner welcomed us upon arrival, great. a boot and drying room exists and this helps when walking hadrian's wall. the ensuite bathroom includes a bath. It was welcome after a long day. self-service drinks are available in the lounge.
the water costed extra, i think.

the beautiful king room i stayed in was spacious. it also included a modern bathroom. the breakfast was very good (especially the local produce!).
there was no option to control heating in the rooms. the owners controlled the heating in the building. (it's a huge period building)

the breakfast was good, it had multiple choices.
I found the room temperature to be quite cold. I was not able to adjust the heating. the owners controlled the heating for the whole building, and this was not ideal. also, i was charged for water, a surprising extra cost.

pretty buildingcentral heatingroom temperature
the building looked pretty enough.
i found the heating situation rather odd. the heating was centrally controlled, and seemingly turned off while guests were there. the temperature dropped quite low, almost to freezing, quite uncomfortable. this impacted the overall experience negatively, especially since there was no way to adjust the room temperature.

the room had a super clean design. the rooms are also spacious. i found the bed to be comfy. the breakfast was great and there were plenty of drink choices.
i noticed a slight lack of control over the room's heating.
