The breakfast offered a great variety. The dinner menu had GOOD quality OPTIONS. the location offers many walking opportunities. The room was well-equipped.
The bar area's furniture looked mismatched. It seemed like it was bought at auction.

i enjoyed the breakfast here a lot. it was a hearty breakfast and it sets me up perfectly for the day. the hotel sits in a good location to visit all of exmoor, so it was easy to get around.
i had a lunchtime ploughmans in the bar, it was distinctly underwhelming. the ploughmans included half a baguette, a lump of cheddar, and some coleslaw. the apple was two slices and a very hard celery was served. it was not fresh local ingredients.

Really good Stay

The location was fantastic. It is right in the heart of the national park. The staff were friendly, CHEERFUL and efficient at all times. Broadband access was good, and the WiFi sign-in process was very easy to navigate. I found the food to be excellent with no short measures on portion sizes.
The bar service was slightly slow at peak times, but this was understandable given how busy the hotel was.

Our double room was clean and well-appointed. The bathroom was bright and had modern fixtures. The room temperature was easy to control, our comfort. A tray with christmas goodies was a very nice touch.

i stayed in the lodge. i enjoyed a view of the river. each morning i could hear birdsong and the sounds of the river. dippers in the shallows were visible each day right from the window.
i found that both tesla ev chargers were not working. constant wifi connection errors occurred in the room and around the hotel. i hope they do the maintenance soon.
