calm retreat with stellar service
comfortable decor in-room bath friendly staff convenient location
the room had a comfortable decor. there was a bath right in the room. the staff are very accommodating and friendly. the public and private hot tubs provided great relaxation, and the location offered easy bus connections to local sights. i found free coffee, popsicles, and pot noodles a nice perk.

wonderful ryokan stay!
free beer hot sake helpful staff
i really appreciated the complimentary drinks. there was free beer available from 3-9pm daily. hot sake was also available from 4:30-7pm. free ramen was offered late at night (i think from 10-10:30pm). i thought the staff were helpful in every way (they really go above and beyond).
the public bath lacked a rinse area.

Inconsistent Service Detracted from Stay
inconvenient dinner time missing bedside table
I booked a dinner time, but on arrival, I had to eat much earlier. The times offered were oddly restrictive. One of the bedside tables was missing, so the room lacked a lamp and nearby plug. They gave us one towel to use for both the private bath and bathroom. That seemed cheap for what I paid.

i appreciated the complimentary snacks and sake available in the early evening. having milk and ices after the onsen soak was a nice touch too.
one day, the hotel staff didn't clean the room. also, the restaurant seemed expensive considering the food quality and service.

poor service little english
the onsen in the room was acceptable, i guess.
i was utterly disappointed with the service. the front desk staff spoke very little english, so communication was a real problem. they rushed me during check-in and generally didn't provide the japanese ryokan service i expected. this.

wonderful onsen EXPERIENCE
traditional food private onsen included whiskey comfortable clothes
The japanese traditional food was GREAT for breakfast and dinner, especially the kaseiki. a private onsen was usually free. I used the outside one often. my room-onsen was large enough, and the included whiskey highball, beer, milk, juices and night ramen were amazing and free. the japanese clothes provided for the spa area and kaseiki barbecue were comfortable. My clothes did not smell.
the hotel HASN'T done the cleaning of the room one day. we have booked 2 times in the restaurant, but the available hours were 17:30 or 21:00.

The hotel is VERY close to the bus terminal. It is a five-minute walk. the bus brings you to the kamikochi national park and ropeway station in twenty minutes. many local sights are accessible through easy bus connections.

Acceptable Stay with Some Issues
unclean room expensive restaurant
The venue had an ideal location, very close to the bus terminal.
I must say that my room was not cleaned one day . The restaurant was quite expensive, especially considering the service did not impress me and the food was only okay.
