Each of the six floors had its own scent, spices Portugal imported years ago. There was coffee, tea, cocoa, pepper, cinnamon and anise available. I found the spices and scents throughout the hotel to be a distinctive and nice feature.

The room was clean, spacious and it featured a great view out over the city. I found the top floor rooms offered an enhanced sense of privacy. The extra long bathtubs provided a relaxing soak.

The staff checked us in quickly, and we were off to our room within minutes of arriving. I appreciated the glass of port given to us upon arrival. They were helpful in scheduling tours and recommending restaurants nearby.

The hotel's location allowed convenient visits to many attractions within a short walk. I found several unique restaurants nearby, offering flexible dining options near the accommodation. Breakfast featured various fresh, local pastries and salmon. It was good the staff were friendly.

The room had limited clothes hangers, with only seven provided for three guests.
