I found the spacious room quite pleasant. The river view from the bedroom window was lovely. I appreciated the drying room for wet coats and boots.

really good stay in the lakes
central location complimentary coffee surprise treats
the hotel's location is great. it allows easy access to buttermere and fleetwith pike. the complimentary tea and proper coffee available all day were very welcome. i especially loved the surprise treats like scones that the chef offered.
the menu had limited options. i found this slightly restrictive, particularly when my first choice was unavailable due to it being late in the evening.

the superior double room was nicely decorated. it was clean, well kept, and comfortable. the powerful hot shower was particularly enjoyable after a day of hiking in the lake district.

cheerful staff friendly staff delicious dinner
I stayed five nights at the hotel. The staff were cheerful. They were also friendly and helpful. Breakfasts were hearty. Dinners were delicious.
The hotel bar doubled as the reception. This. I approached the check-in area, unsure of where to stand.

The hotel offers convenient access to bus routes. Routes 77 and 78 provide walks to Honister Pass, Buttermere, and Keswick. These bus journeys cost two pounds each, a good deal.
