excellent stay at Dartmoor
well-kept grounds spacious layout gin making falconry
the grounds were wonderfully maintained. i enjoyed my stay in a Valley castle room. the room included a spacious layout. the hotel features gin making and falconry, both of which i tried.
i noted that the pool needs tlc, like replacing the window GLASS.

the staff were friendly when i spoke to them. Isaac gave an AMAZING tour around the estate. The reception service was not especially attentive during check-in.

well-kept house relaxing space
we stayed as a family for one night during a road trip. we used the spa and tennis courts (they were so fun), and we found the surrounding space provided a nice, relaxing experience.
the quality of afternoon tea services seemed poor. i noticed a high turnover of employees who was not well-trained. i hope management addresses this to improve customer experience.

I found the staff genuinely hospitable. Their commitment to. the grounds were beautifully landscaped. i was pleased with my partner's birthday clay pigeon shooting, fantastic. isaac, the instructor, was superb.
I felt the hotel is getting a little tired. It seems impersonal and has lost its unique, luxury, and personal touch.

the neo-jacobean mansion is set on glorious grounds, with views down sweeping lawns. i appreciated the valley views with ponds, trees, and vistas of the moorland. the beautiful spa has indoor pool views of the grounds.

The room was warm, elegant, and cute. It was checked on twice a day. amazing views across the valley towards easdon tor were visible from the room. i especially appreciated the little touches like the sloe gin.

Dinner at smiths brasserie was superb. The staff were always available to replenish and check. the food in the brasserie and the great western restaurant was always good. breakfast was relaxing with a proper english breakfast.

extensive grounds elegant room warm room architectural elegance
the grounds were extensive and beautiful (especially the views towards easdon tor). our room was warm, elegant, and cute. i particularly appreciated the attentiveness, with the room checked on twice daily. the architectural elegance definitely impressed me.
the absence of any inquiry about my stay during checkout felt a little underwhelming, as i wanted to provide feedback in person.

vegan afternoon tea lemon drizzle cake poor buffet awful service
i enjoyed the vegan afternoon tea. the vegan cream tea included finger sandwiches and scones. the scones had something resembling clotted cream, which amazed me. the iced lemon drizzle cake stood out among the vegan cakes.
the breakfast one morning was poor. the buffet was not topped up. the table service was awful at £28 per person. the room was not serviced by 3pm and i had to ring reception to get it done.
