lovely short break
lovely cookiestop class foodspacious roomjacuzzi bath
the lady gave us cookies. they were baked by the chef. i dined there the first night. the food was top class. my room was spacious and clean. the jacuzzi bath and robes were a lovely touch. i will return.
i booked in from 15:00. i arrived slightly early at 14:30 and the main door locked. i walked around the building and found a member of staff. she said the hotel closed today.

the room included air conditioning. i needed this. shower and towels were available. the ladies at reception were lovely. there was a pool table for use. a garden was lovely.

the park was amazing. the place was very quiet. parking was easy. reception operated 24 hours. staff were friendly. it was not too far from oulton park racetrack.

musty smelldirty carpet
The cleanliness wasn't great, i noticed a musty smell in both the room and bathroom. the carpet was quite dirty, detracting from the overall feel. i think the hotel rooms looked better online. In person, they appear somewhat dated. i also did not see many staff at reception and i was left without clear directions for breakfast, facilities, or the bar. it reminded me of exploring independently was my only option, it was a bit frustrating.

The gardens were QUITE lovely, offering a peaceful setting. The room included tea and coffee making facilities. Free parking provided convenience, and there was ample space in the car park.
The decor could use a refresh though.

some issues
dark decorbroken blind
i booked a room and it was not as expected. the room decor seemed really dark and the four poster bed was black. it made it uninviting. the bathroom blind was broken, i could not adjust it. also, there was a noticeable cigarette smoke smell throughout the hotel which i did not like.
