underwhelming stay
decent locationdated furnitureweak shower
the location was pretty decent.
the room felt pretty dated and not in a charming way the furniture looked worn. the bathroom had a distinct smell i couldn't quite place. plus the shower pressure was so weak it was hard to actually get clean.

excellent locationrelaxing courtyard
the location was excellent the courtyard offered a relaxing area. the reception staff provided great assistance during power cuts. a staff member even drove us with luggage to get a taxi to the airport. breakfast service on the last day was a treat I regret not experiencing more often

the shower was a real letdown. i struggled with the water pressure which was weak. also, the bathroom had an unpleasant smell that lingered, and it was not to my liking. i expected better for what i paid.

the antiquity of the building is charming, but the shower head was broken. the staff, while efficient, seemed distant and not particularly cute. it seemed like they were performing their duties without warmth. this lack of friendliness was a bit of a letdown.

historical charm NEAR the BEACH

i appreciate the location because its great. the hotel had excellent meals, and the courtyard provided a very nice area i found to relax. when i stranded during a power cut, a staff member drove me to a taxi rank.
the shower head was broken. it could easily be updated.

the hotel has retained its characteristics from 1904. the courtyard is beautiful, and the parakeets made a lovely sound in the evening. the hotel has a unique history.

the hotel IS next to the beach. a promenade allows viewing the sunrise. cartagena is close, too. location is fantastic.

plenty of choice for food during all day. i took breakfast once. i wished i had taken it more often. the restaurant is excellent.

the staff were great, and they couldn't have been more helpful. reception staff showed me the history. one staff member took me to the airport. staff very helpful and friendly.

The location is excellent and is right on the beach edge.
The staff seemed quite distant. They were efficient, yes, but there was a definite lack of warmth (which i usually expect). the room smelled a bit musty. I suspect it's an issue with dampness.
