The staff was helpful and friendly. The grounds were lovely (I enjoyed the walled garden a lot). Breakfast was very good, including a nice variety of options.
The service was slow at times. I waited a while for dinner one night. My room did not have a bath, and it was located at the back of the hotel up two flights of stairs.

The hotel has beautiful surroundings.
The service was excessively slow. It took one hour for dinner to arrive. Staff attitude was not great when I raised dissatisfaction, and they purposefully avoided us afterwards. Food quality was poor. The egg benedict was the grossest and blandest I can imagine.

Okay Stay at the Castle

I appreciated the efficient service throughout my stay. The reception staff were very chatty (they seemed genuinely happy to be there). One of the receptionists showed me to my room. I thought the dinner was high quality.
My room lacked a window. It also did not have a bath. The room was at the very back of the building up two flights of stairs. I seemed like I was going up into a loft.
