The location was good, right on the edge of the lake. I found it easy to reach both Stamford and other areas. The buildings and grounds seemed beautiful.

My room was tiny. I didn't read the fine print, my error. It was especially hot, though that was not the hotel's fault.

the location is fantastic. it is right on the bank of the water (rutland water, that is). breakfast was excellent with lots of choice and replenished regularly. the staff were all lovely, so i had a great stay.

the bar prices were high. i found water to be quite expensive. the hotel was noisy at times (bins being emptied late and early).

the view from the window overlooking the water was acceptable. it did not fully compensate for other issues though.

The food was not great. Breakfast was a very poor buffet. the bacon was undercooked and rubbery, and hash browns were not crisp. there were also no local ales available at the bar, only doombar and guiness.
