helpful staff friendly manager excellent food
The staff was really helpful and friendly! The manager even showed us the dungeons. Both breakfast and the evening meal were really good.
The bar service was a bit slow at times.

good breakfast castle location hot breakfast
The location worked well for visiting barnard castle. bowes museum was nearby. the breakfast was good. I found it difficult to fault. it had plenty of choice and the cooked breakfast arrived hot.
the room felt quite dated. i did feel that the price for the accommodation was slightly too high.

the site is set back from the main road, which keeps it peaceful. you can access the nearby towns easily. exploring local attractions presented no challenges. there were plenty of spots to visit.

friendly staff evening meal
The staff was friendly and helpful! The evening meal had great value. The building has grand appearance and a vast history.
I found access to the toilet a bit difficult because of the narrow bathroom. I think a slight redesign here would improve accessibility

nice brands helpful receptionist
The hotel provided complimentary tea, coffee, and biscuits. The breakfast offered a good choice of continental, full English, vegetarian, and vegan options. Mary at reception was very friendly and helpful. The building has a quirky design.
