a good christmas celebration

beautiful settingprivate function roomexcellent foodincorrect starter
we had a six night stay leading up to christmas eve to celebrate my husband's 60th birthday. the setting was beautiful. we hired a private function room for a surprise meal with family and created the perfect finale to such a nice stay. i loved the quality and presentation of food throughout our stay, it was excellent.
i waited 25 minutes for my first drink, the service was not what you would expect from a five star hotel. our starters were incorrect and we then waited 35 minutes for our breakfast in the morning. i think that the hotel may have been understaffed.

The building features fine architecture with costly decor, maintained beautifully. I found the staff attentive and helpful and the food was AMAZING!!! The hotel includes a terrace overlooking beautiful gardens. It provided a very peaceful experience despite its reasonably central location.
My room overlooked the car park and road which was unfortunate. Road noise woke me at 6 a.m. due to arriving cars. The hotel was not at full capacity, and a quieter room would have been beneficial.
