poor lightinginadequate soundproofing
I found some issues. the lighting in the room i stayed in was poor. it made it difficult to relax or read. also, the sound insulation could have been better. I was often disturbed by noise from the hallway and other rooms. i could hear other guests easily and street sounds were clear. it impacted my sleep quality and overall peace.

Authentic Japanese Experience

firm futonlovely ladyamazing foodprivate onsen
The japanese futon was firm. I slept very well. Dinner was served by a lovely older Japanese lady. We communicated through hand gestures. The quantity and quality of food was amazing. The dishes were explained on a printed menu. I booked a room with a private onsen. It was lovely to use it whenever I wished. The water is quite hot, great after a long day.
The ryokan is old. It smells a little musty

The ryokan is a few minutes walk to the bus and train station. There are also lots of great shops along the way. A river and bridge are just outside. A beautiful waterfall and temple is just up the hill.

You can book a 30-minute private onsen session upon arrival. There is also a non-reserved private onsen. You can use this at any time if it is vacant. There are public onsens too.
