cracked tilesrusty furniture
The room i had was not ideal. the bathroom tiles were cracked. the furniture looked aged and rusty (i found this unsettling). a plastic curtain hung in the bathtub. I would expect more from this kind of hotel.

The staff were friendly, and the location was central.
I encountered some issues . The room's decor felt dated and tired (especially the bathroom). the cooked breakfast was barely warm. I suspect it had been prepared in advance and kept waiting.

the location was perfect for the cathedral i love. the staff seemed genuinely happy and helpful. our evening meal in the pub was divine and reasonably priced. the portion sizes did really fill me up.
the rubbish was a bit of an eyesore near the parking area.

the room was large, and the four poster bed added character. i could control the room's temperature easily, a great plus. i had a pleasant meal in the pub. breakfast offered many choices, including a continental breakfast table and a delicious cooked breakfast.
The till seemed to have a slight hiccup when ordering a second drink. the price differed from the first round. It was a minor inconvenience.

Staff helped with luggage and were generally amazing. alan and sasha showed great support when my wife fell ill overnight. They were very helpful, demonstrating excellent care during a difficult time.
