I found the hotel to be historic with evident beauty, a good base for cornwall exploration. the staff were friendly and helpful. The pool and gym were nice. the restaurant served good food. i thought the value matched the price i paid.
my room felt small, as if pushed into a corner. the shower had weak pressure and inconsistent hot water, it was quite annoying. i hope other single rooms fare better

The food was good. It had plenty of choice.
I found black mould around the shower. It was VERY off-putting. There are products to deal with this. It is unacceptable. I tried calling reception but there was no answer.

The staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast and dinner were very good. The pool staff were always kind. The pool was the best thing because the weather was rainy.
The structure is old. The bedroom door was hard to close. This was caused by a defect in the lock.

the hotel had fresh flowers everywhere, a detail i found so charming. the breakfast included hot food, a bonus when i was in a rush. i appreciated catching a glimpse of jasper, the hotel cat.
the gym's membership policy felt a bit restrictive, as it didn't allow adding friends or family.
