a mixed stay

unsafe path locked premises
the breakfast offered a satisfactory start to the day.
The premises showed signs of wear, certainly not what i EXPECTED. i was surprised to find myself essentially locked in during certain hours, ostensibly for security reasons. access when the building was locked required navigating a poorly lit and unsafe path. This is UNACCEPTABLE.

the room felt quite dated. the bathroom needed some serious attention with fixtures falling off. it also had a strong damp smell that was pretty hard to ignore for the duration of my stay. i suspect the staff knew about it already

good breakfast attentive lady positive experience
The breakfast was really good and hot. A lady served the breakfast, she was attentive. I'd consider staying here again as it was a positive experience overall.
The hotel does not have a car park. Street-parking is free. It is in short supply though.

spacious room clean room early closure eager staff
the room was quite spacious and spotlessly clean. i appreciated the ease of access to the pub. the food was really good (i recommend the local ales).
the bar closed quite early at 9 pm. i was surprised by this since i was a resident. the staff seemed eager to leave at that time.
