small bathroom uncomfortable bed
The bathroom was small. The taps were too close to the edge of the basin, and water spilled onto the floor. The bed also wasn't comfortable at all. Breakfast did not taste great and was too busy, causing some difficulty in accessing the teas and coffee machine.

Excellent Hotel and Great Service
helpful staff breakfast variety superb location
I found the staff helpful and always available. The breakfast was great (especially the variety of options offered). The location was superb. I was close to many attractions. I had lift access, very helpful with luggage.
The hotel lacked air conditioning, and the room became quite cold during the night. I requested a heater from reception at 4 am. I found that affected my sleep quality.

The room was very clean and tidy. It included plenty of milk for the drink tray with a nice biscuit selection. The room provided everything needed to feel comfortable.

The hotel is next to a landmark and a short walk from the town center. Its location is excellent for shops, bars, restaurants, and theatres. Public parking near the hotel is easy.

The bar area was very cosy and warm with helpful staff. Lift access was excellent. Staff provided highchairs and additional snacks for my young child. I really appreciated that.

adequate stay with some drawbacks
uncleanliness issue inadequate lighting
the location proved convenient for accessing nearby attractions. (i particularly enjoyed the short walk to the city center)
My room lacked proper cleanliness. I found some questionable residue in the sink. additionally, inadequate lighting made simple tasks like hair styling difficult, as there were few mirrors and hardly any accessible power sockets. i woke up to loud banging noises early in the morning, disruptive.

a festive and super clean stay
fresh food friendly staff excellent location super clean hotel
the breakfast was really good with many options to choose from. the cooked food was fresh and hot (i particularly enjoyed the eggs!). the staff in the bar were friendly. the hotel was super clean. its location near the barbican theatre and city walls was ideal. a short walk brought me to central attractions and the hop-on and off bus stop.
I noticed a slight cold draft in the early hours. The fan heater took a while to start working, but eventually provided some warmth.

the location is perfect, with the shambles only five minutes away. york minster is accessible within a seven-minute walk. this provides easy access to cultural and historical sites. river walks are also easily accessible.

i stayed in a double room. it was adequate and maintained a perfect temperature. the room was clean, ensuring a comfortable environment. the beds and pillows felt good to sleep in (i found them high quality!).

friendly staff delicious food

adequate stay NEAR the castle
city location wide variety air conditioning dated bathroom
the location proved convenient for city exploration. the hotel's proximity to key attractions allowed us to easily immerse ourselves in the local scene. the breakfast selection stood out, it featured a wide variety of options.
during our stay, the lack of functioning air conditioning was A challenge. we relied on a provided fan to mitigate the discomfort, which proved insufficient. the dated bathroom was worn, with the bath and curtain showing signs of age.

mixed feelings about the stay
small window shower problem
the room was quite disappointing. i paid extra for a tower view, but the window was small and covered in condensation. it barely opened and scraped against the wall. also the shower lacked water pressure, and there was limescale buildup on the shower head. these issues, combined with the general condition of the room, made me question the overall value.
